\nreaches me and leaves me
\nlike a muse.<\/p>\n

On your forehead like strokes
\nI see footprints of memories.<\/p>\n

And like a fugitive,
\nforeseeing that I’m arriving,
\nyour skin is a canvas that unravels.<\/p>\n

Basil Hallward is the name of a character in Oscar Wilde’s novel “The Picture of Dorian Gray<\/a>“<\/em>. He is the artist that actually paints the portrait.<\/p>\n

Some time later I rewrote this poem in Spanish; and even later, in 2007, that translation became the base for the lyrics to the song “El Sue\u00f1o de Basil Hallward<\/a>“<\/em> for my band Teatro Fantasma<\/a>.
