During those months I wrote several poems that, as often happens with art and time, I see today as <em>works of youth<\/em>, to put it mildly. The poem turned out to be a Polish translation of her own &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/ije.oxfordjournals.org\/cgi\/reprint\/31\/2\/497.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Mad Cow Talks Back<\/a>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>The experiment was interesting, and years later, while reading her volume of free versions of poems by Rainer Maria Rilke &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2bpQXWO\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tender Taxes<\/a>&#8220;, I came up with the character of Lavaca, a cow who likes to ruminate&nbsp;poems in languages she doesn&#8217;t know, then moo a response back.<\/p>\n<p>On July 26th, 2008, I created two new blogs where Lavaca could express herself either in <a href=\"http:\/\/lavacamoosback.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">English<\/a> or&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/lavacareplica.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spanish<\/a>.
