We’ve been updating for a few weeks already, having started the writing workshop blog and everything, but today in particular there were quite a number of small tweaks going on. Mainly I’ve fixed a bug in the WordPress plugins that filled up my English-language pages with extra blank lines. Hopefully, that shouldn’t happen anymore. If you notice that something else has gone wrong, or come up with ideas for future improvements, please don’t hesitate to use the contact form (which by the way has also been renovated).

Aditionally, I’m experimenting with extracting segments of video as illustrations for the writing workshop. I have just updated the recent entries on Alan Moore and David Lynch with the videos of the quotes I used. Please let me know if you like the idea and would like to see more videos in the future, or whether you consider this a waste of time and space.

The final addition is rather oriented to Spanish speakers, as I used to be the official translator for the Dork Tower comic strip and I’ve uploaded those comics in a new section. For you English speakers, I recommend a visit at the official site.

By the way… Are there any English-speaking readers out there at all? If so, please let me know!

Suscription reminder

Since we moved the Writing Workshop here and started off the bilingual blog things are getting busy! Unique visitors for the month of July amount to almost 60,000 – thanks a lot everyone!

To stay up to date with all that’s going on, I recommend RSS suscriptions, for example through Google Reader, so you won’t miss any new Posts or even any new Comments, where debates are getting hot!

Additionally, for Spanish speakers or students wishing to listen to the podcast, there are two suscription options available: RSS o iTunes.

Those with less experience with computers -or simply not willing to suscribe despite my recommendations- simply need to return frequently and have a look at the latest changes.

A note about the comments: unfortunately I’ve been so far unable to separate them by language, so currently all you see are Spanish-language comments. Please don’t let that refrain you from writing your own comments in English – it’s perfectly OK to have them mingle together until we find a better solution for this. (Suggestions are welcome too)

For those who already know all of this and are sick of having me repeat it, here’s the funny trivia/news of the day: I just found out that Placebo are Mrs. Carrington fans!

Creative writing

As some of you may know, one of my ongoing projects is a podcast devoted to Creative Writing, unfortunately avaiable only in Spanish. So far, the workshop had its own separate blog, but I am now integrating it here. That means that all the old posts (only in Spanish) have been incorporated in the Archive, creating a lot of entries which are quite pointless to you English speakers. Sorry about that.

The bright side is that, from now on, I will try to write bilingual entries for all my next Creative Writing posts, so that even if the podcast is only in Spanish, at least all potential writers out there might benefit from this new side of the blog. Welcome to the workshop!

Illustrator wanted

I’m developing a project for an illustrated novel and searching for a collaborator -anywhere- to take care of the graphic side.

This is not a paid job but a project for joined authorship (quite sellable, by the way, in my totally unbiased opinion ;-).

If you are an illustrator and would like to know more, please write using the contact form.

I’ll also be grateful to receive suggestions in the comments for communities of illustrators where to continue my search, or personal websites of artists you like. Thanks!

Two finalists for the price of one

Both short films presented to the “A film by…” section of the NoTodoFilmFest have been selected as finalists, awaiting the decision of the jury: renowned director Alejandro Amenábar (“The Others”).

This also means that Álex Hernández-Puertas is the only director with two movies among the twenty finalists.

To celebrate the event, we have created new sections in the Movies area ofthis website for each of them: “Goodbye Myra” and “The Missing Husband“, including the soundtrack to the latter.

Don’t forget to drop by the festival’s page for one and the other to leave your reviews.

A news-filled week brings along the ninth episode of Mrs. Carrington.

The murder of Lorenzo has divided the Carrington Mansion. What will Leona do? Will Chumina be able to overcome her loss? What happened to the Mistress? New characters and revealing confidences will produce heart attacks… guaranteed!

But in case of need, you may always have the nurse take a look at you…

“Confidences” is the longest and most complex episode so far, not to be missed!

Goodbye Myra

Several hundred short films are already competing for a variety of awards at the NoTodoFilmFest, but one section is still open to participants. In “A film by… Alejandro Amenábar“, the renowned director sets up a premise from which each participant can develop their own story in a maximum time of three minutes and thirty seconds.

This year I take part in a Notodo for the first, with not one but two films. The first one is a project by my partner Günther Plitt in which I ended up involved to the core – to the point that it’s finished even before my own. It’s called Goodbye Myra and it’s already available at the website of the festival.

We’ll be expecting your comments!
